Deborrah Kaye "Debbie" Allen is an American actress, dancer, choreographer, television director and television producer.

She appeared as a guest choreographer in various episodes of the sixth season of Dance Moms.

  • Debbie is a member of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. She was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2001.
  • She received an Honorary doctorate from The North Carolina School of the Arts, the same institution that denied her admittance to its dance department when she was sixteen years old; she was told then that she had the wrong type of body for dance.
  • She also has an Honorary doctorate from her alma mater Howard University.
  • Debbie founded the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in 2000.
  • During her lifetime, she has choreographed five Academy Award shows.
  • She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
  • She studied drama at the HB Studio in Greenwich Village in New York City.
  • In 1991, Debbie was awarded with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
