James A. Washington was a choreographer and faculty teacher at the ALDC. His specialties include contemporary jazz and hip hop.[2] He was known for holding combo Monday classes.[3]
Originally from Rochester, New York, James graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in dance from Point Park University[4] (located in Pittsburgh.)
In the summer of 2014, he left the ALDC to work in New York City,[5] remaining on good terms with Abby.

- He choreographed "My Pumps," seen in Cathy Brings It On.[6]

- James choreographed "Sassy Dolls," seen in Everyone's Replaceable.[7]
Season 3[]
- He helped Abby choregraph "Castaways" in Clash of the Dance Moms.
- He helped Gianna choregraph "Just Be" in Gone, Abby Gone.
Season 4[]
- James choreographed Chloe's solo "Friday Night" in Lights! Camera! Dance!
- In No More Crybabies, he can be seen watching the group dance.
- In Another One Bites the Dust, he takes the lead working with Nia on "Goodbye Maya" during part of her training, with Holly praising his teaching methods and abilities.

Trivia[]
- In December 2014, James was a featured dancer in a contemporary jazz adaptation of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.[8][9][10]
