"Maddie vs. Kalani" is the fifteenth episode of the fifth season of Dance Moms. It first aired on April 14, 2015.
Synopsis
Determined to have a victory in their first week back in Los Angeles, the ALDC faces the Murrieta Dance Project again, the team that won with a perfect score and sent Abby in a downward spiral of negativity. Putting her best foot forward, Abby gives solos to her two strongest dancers, Maddie and Kalani. Kalani is hungry for a win and she is feeling the pressure to beat not only Maddie but MDP as well. Sparks fly between Jill and Holly when Nia is left out of a showbiz opportunity which puts a strain on the team as they try to master an edgy rose garden themed contemporary routine.[2]

- Murrieta Dance Project again competed against ALDC.[6] Their group dance is similar to a previous dance, "Young & Beautiful," performed at The Dance Awards and Showstoppers.
- Somehow Maddie was in the junior division at WCTE. The same for the group dance.
- Maddie was on Ellen on the 30th (ellentube, YouTube), performing a very different version of "Elastic Heart" with Sia.
- The girls filmed a special segment on January 27th. It first aired with this episode, and was called "Slumber Party: Selfie Showdown."
- Later in the year after filming this episode, Abby gave the address for ALDC L.A. as 11419 Santa Monica Boulevard. [7] A Google streetview in February shows ALDC posters in one of the windows.
- Team with G.R.L. (music girl group related to Robin Antin); Colleen Ballinger (aka Miranda Sings); Shaun Ross; Todrick Hall ("Freaks Like Me.") Ballinger/Sings later did a video blog about her night at Todrick's, and the absence of Nia.
- Girls with moms went to Disneyland on Monday, Jan 26th
- Kaycee Rice was part of the February 1st Super Bowl XLIX half-time festivities, at one point dancing nearby Katy Perry and Missy Elliott.[8][9][10] Kira's Adage Dance Studios also performed in the halftime show.[11]
