"New Season, New Rules" is the first episode of the sixth season of Dance Moms. It first aired on January 5, 2016.
Synopsis
It’s the ALDC’s first week of the competition season and Abby starts it off with a bang—a big announcement that will change the future of the team. Maddie’s star is glowing brightly as she shoots her first movie and her new substitute on the team is a slap in the face to Jill and Kendall. Meanwhile, Jeanette and her BDA team, the reigning National champs, are back and ready to show the ALDC how dancing is done.[2][3]

Other Information
- Pyramid
- Kalani, Kendall, JoJo, Mackenzie, Nia
- The pyramid was completely different than before as each girl was handed their headshot and told to face the mirror. Abby told them that all of them were on the bottom of the pyramid because they lost at the previous competition.
- Kalani was not at the competition because she went to her dad's wedding on the day of the competition.
- Maddie was not in the group dance due to her absence throughout the week because she spent the time in New York City, working for her film role in The Book of Henry.
- JoJo has stated in a YouTube video[5] that this weeks group dance was her favorite group dance she has performed
