"The Great Divide" is the ninth episode of the fifth season of Dance Moms. It first aired March 3, 2015.
Synopsis
It's the ALDC's first week back in Pittsburgh and the pressure is on to win after the girls' lackluster showing in Los Angeles. There is division amongst the moms based on who stayed to film the MattyB music video and who left. In true Abby fashion, the group dance is a personal attack against the mothers. Making matters worse, Abby discovers the team is in the teen division and one older member must sit out, sparking even more controversy amongst the team.

Other Information
- Pyramid:
- Maddie
- Mackenzie, Kendall
- Kalani, Nia, JoJo, Maddie
- Maddie was placed on the bottom and top of the pyramid. Two different headshots were used.
- Kalani's music cut during her second, un-judged performance[2] of her solo. The "music was messing up all day but KALANI was the only one to keep dancing."[3]
- Kalani wasn't in the judged version of "The Domino Effect" group dance, but she was part of the second un-judged performance.[4] This appears to be why the group dance is in junior in official results (similar to the suggestion of replacing Nia with JoJo in Bye Bye Pittsburgh.)
- A news article concerning the competition mentions that "the crew coached the audience in appropriate cheering reactions."
- ALDC members (including minis, seniors, etc) toured NYC on Sunday, and went to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.[5]
- Most of the cast returned to Pittsburgh before Thanksgiving. Abby was still posting from southern California on Thanksgiving. Kira posted from Arizona on that same Thursday.
- WCTE again stated that they were looking for "the best of the best" from local dance studios, with free registration for routines that have finished first in 2014.[6][7] More information.
- The same costumes appear to have been used at Jump for "Dollhouse," but without the headpieces.
- Ashlee Allen and Brynn Rumfallo were not present for this episode.
- It was not shown but Abby brought in Miranda Maleski as the choreographer this week to teach the group dance. Miranda actually started working for the ALDC starting in Season 6 and 7 when Abby had her space in L.A.
